Bio
Sara worked for the State of IL for 18 years; 14 were with the Department of Human Services (DHS) as a caseworker, processing community medical and food stamps (SNAP) from 2001-2006, then processed Long Term Care cases from 2007-2015. Sara approved applications, processed OIG (Office of Inspector General) directives, updated active cases with ongoing changes, and prepared cases for appeals in St Clair County. She worked with every long term and supportive living facility in St Clair County during her time as a caseworker; building relationships with each facility, and their residents, to process accurate applications while explaining the process to all parties involved. She also worked with Medicaid Elder Law attorneys from St Clair and Madison County, processing applications once the planning was complete and the client qualified for long term care benefits. In 2014, DHS decided to move the long-term cases to designated hubs throughout IL, prompting Sara to resign as a caseworker and start Saric Consulting in Belleville. She now has 10 employees and opened an additional office in the Springfield area in July 2023 to provide services to additional families in need throughout the central and northern regions. She continues to work closely with several Medicaid Elder Law attorneys throughout IL, assisting their clients with the Medicaid application once the Medicaid planning is complete and the client is eligible for long term care benefits. Sara is a member of the St Clair County Elder Justice Committee and Board President for the Southern Illinois Visiting Nurses Association. She is also a trustee for the Smithton Commercial Club, providing social activities for residents of her small southern Illinois town.
